To efficiently manage the transportation operations to ensure timely delivery of goods and services. - To optimize transportation routes and resources to reduce costs while maintaining service quality. - To ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards. - To support the overall logistics and supply chain objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Strategic Development: Formulate and implement transportation strategies aimed at optimizing operational efficiency and minimizing costs.
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams to effectively schedule transportation activities that align with customer requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Monitor transportation operations to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Driver Management: Oversee driver performance, including training initiatives, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and address transportation challenges in a timely manner to ensure seamless operations.
  • Data Analysis: Evaluate transportation data to uncover opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
  • Customer Collaboration: Foster relationships with customers to guarantee consistent and reliable transportation services.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive reports on transportation metrics, budget considerations, and performance for management review.
  • Command Center Operations: Efficiently manage operations through the command center, including the enhancement of existing tracking systems.
  • Fleet Maintenance Management: Supervise the in-house fleet maintenance workshop, ensuring effective team collaboration.
  • Transportation Management System (TMS) Development: Advance operations associated with the current TMS to improve overall efficiency.
  • Sales Plan Accountability: Ensure achievement of the transportation sales plan, aligning it with organizational goals
  • Real-Time Tracking: Implement and utilize tracking systems that provide real-time visibility of shipments throughout the transportation process.
  • Lead Time Management: Analyze and manage lead times for shipments, ensuring that timelines are met and communicated clearly to stakeholders.
  • Route Optimization: Analyze and optimize transportation routes to improve delivery times and reduce fuel consumption,
  • Performance Evaluation: Regularly evaluate performance based on timeliness, reliability, and service quality to ensure adherence to delivery schedules.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop and maintain SOPs for all phases of the shipping process to ensure consistency and reliability in operations.
  • Compliance Training: Develop training programs for staff to ensure ongoing compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
  • Shipment Coordination: Coordinate closely with warehousing and logistics teams to ensure that outbound shipments are prepared and dispatched on schedule.
  • Contingency Planning: Develop contingency plans for potential delays, including alternative routing and backup carriers, to respond to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor shipment performance metrics such as on-time delivery rates, order accuracy, and shipment delays to continuously identify areas for improvement.
  • Customer Communication: Establish clear communication channels with customers regarding shipment status, providing updates and addressing any concerns proactively.
  • Customer Service Enhancement: Establish systems for receiving and addressing customer feedback regarding transportation services to improve overall customer satisfaction.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and other software tools for enhanced scheduling, visibility, and predictive analytics related to delivery timelines.
  • Technology Integration: Stay abreast of new technologies and trends in transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics, integrating innovative solutions to enhance operations.
  • Collaboration with Partners: Work closely with suppliers, distributors, and carriers to synchronize operations and enhance overall supply chain performance regarding delivery timelines.
  • Data Analysis for Forecasting: Utilize historical data and analytics to forecast demand and optimize shipping schedules, balancing the need for speed with cost-effectiveness.
  • Daily Performance Review Meetings: Conduct daily or weekly meetings with the logistics team to review on-time performance, address issues, and make necessary adjustments to schedules.
  • Visual Management Tools: Use dashboards and other visual management tools to provide transparency into shipping processes and highlight any areas needing attention.
  • Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with healthcare services providers, third-party logistics providers and carriers to ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the transportation budget, controlling costs while optimizing service levels.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in transportation operations and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Develop and implement environmentally sustainable transportation practices and explore alternative energy solutions for the fleet.
  • Process Improvement: Establish and refine processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and service quality in transportation operations.
  • Performance Benchmarking: Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for transportation operations and implement best practices based on industry standards
